Off Site Vault Data Storage

"PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS BY PROTECTING YOUR DATA IN SPECTRUMDATA'S OFF SITE DATA STORAGE VAULT"

Data Storage VaultSpectrumData offers a premium off site physical data storage solution for all types of magnetic tape cartridges, optical media and other storage devices. Our secure, state of the art data vault and storage facility is situated at The Australian Data Management Centre in Technology Park, Perth. Significant investment and technology has been incorporated into the customised design and build of the data storage vault to protect your backup data, archived legacy data and other business information and ensure ongoing business continuity for our clients.

In conjunction with our strategic partner DataBank, SpectrumData also offers secure data storage facilities across Australia and New Zealand. For more information on off site vault data storage across Australia, please click here.

The off site storage of important business data is essential and should without question be incorporated into an organisations disaster recovery and risk management plan. Not only does off site storage ensure the urgent and safe recovery of data in the event of a disaster, but it also enables compliance with emerging corporate governance regulations and situations where liability or accountability are paramount. By storing your backup and legacy data off line and off site at an external data storage facility, you will significantly reduce the risks associated with same site data storage while maintaining the ability to achieve fast, reliable access and recovery when required.

Vault Environment

The SpectrumData vault uses state of the artclimate control which ensures a constant storage environment is maintained. A VESDA (very early smoke detection apparatus) system and an automatic Inergin gas flooding suppression system has been fitted.

An air tight vault environment with antechamber entrance has been incorporated into the design to ensure positive air pressure and reduce the introduction of dust into the main vault chamber.

Vault Construction

Our data storage vault is constructed from fire proof materials with a fire rating of six hours. The vault doors are steel lined fire doors and are fitted with tamper proof locks and hinges. The flooring of the vault is coated to reduce dust and the tape media and racking is raised above the floor to ensure data protection in the unlikely event of flood.

The vault is situated within the existing structure of the Australian Data Management Centre, which provides an additional layer of external protection. The vault has no common walls to the external building or other buildings/structures, has no windows and only one secure entrance with additional security measure of antechamber access.

The vault has been designed and built to conform with AS2834 – the Australian Standard for Computer Accommodation and AS3636.4 – the Australian Standard for Data Storage & Media Management.

As SpectrumData do not provide on site storage of paper based records and archives, the risk of fire is largely reduced unlike many of our competitors who provide both services side by side.

For companies wishing to store copies of the same data in two separate locations, SpectrumData also has another Vault situated in Welshpool with a similar construction and fire prevention hardware.

Security

The entire building has been fitted with a sophisticated security system which includes multiple levels of personnel access via swipe card access, movement detectors and CCTV monitoring. We employ a premium 24/7/365 secure monitoring service. The vault has additional security measures and access to inside the vault is limited to specific SpectrumData personnel. SpectrumData carry out police checks for all personnel employed.

All media for which we are responsible for is immediately barcoded with unique identification numbers upon receipt into our care. It is then continually scanned and tracked at every point until safely stored on a vault rack. Your data is protected and monitored every step of the way - from pick up through transportation, storage, retrieval and delivery.

An after hours roaming guard is also present 7 days a week for added security.

Location

The SpectrumData media storage vault is housed at the Australian Data Management Centre in Technology Park, Bentley. It is off the main motorways and roads, and approximately 15 minutes by car from the central Perth CBD and West Perth areas of high commercial density. The premises are not located near any industrial zones where there may be the possibility of chemical, gas or fuel risks nor is it under any commercial flight paths. That said, the location is very convenient and easily accessible for fast retrieval of data with minimal transportation required during pick up and rotation.

Delivery & Rotations Options

SpectrumData offer standard options for our Scheduled Media Pick Up and Retrieval services including a daily, business daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly rotation basis.

Alternatively, customised rotation plans can be incorporated into a Service Level Agreement according to individual organisational requirements. Examples of a customised plan are when pick ups and/or retrievals are required more than once daily or when the client requires SpectrumData personnel to eject cartridges from tape drives and replace with rotated or new media cartridges.

We provide a 24/7 service where urgent access and delivery is required and individual retrieval and delivery SLA’s can be agreed dependant on client requirements and location. Delivery of media is to pre-determined and pre-arranged sites only.

SpectrumData vehicles are fully enclosed late model vehicles which have been customised to ensure maximum protection of your data whilst in transit. We treat your data as our own and our vehicle features include cargo bay air conditioning, insulation, on board mobile phone, security alarm and immobiliser as well as an on board fire extinguisher and blanket. All vehicles are company owned and insured.

Reporting & Invoicing Requirements

SpectrumData can provide numerous regular and adhoc inventory and reporting options. We have a suite of standard reports but customised reports or invoices can be designed to meet individual organisational needs.

On Demand Data Restoration

It is important to note that a significant benefit of using SpectrumData for off site data storage is that we can provide the necessary restoration of legacy and archive data, regardless of media type and vintage. We have the compatible software and hardware technology in house and the expertise to access and restore your data, then convert and migrate the data to your current choice of media technology. This eliminates the need for our clients to maintain aging and redundant technology on site and offers substantial cost and resource benefits.

SpectrumData also provides clients with secure internet access to their data holding. This web access allows customers to order tapes, enter new tapes into the system for retrieval, request deliveries and pickups, order new blank media, purchased transport boxes and a range of other services.
