SpectrumData can offer advanced cataloguing solutions for your media providing the best possible catalogue available in the storage industry today.
Advanced cataloguing solutions can include unique identification information such as digital photographs of tapes, EBCDIC header and trace dumps of data in searchable free text fields or even scanned documents that can be retrieved on line.
For most oil and gas companies, the services being offered by off site storage companies are not adequate for the delivery of a suitable catalogue. Geophysical data such as seismic, navigation, aeromagnetics and others require an in-depth understanding of the data types to ensure a truly useful catalogue is produced. Knowing the difference between field and processed data types, understanding what data might be related such as observer logs to field seismic, and keeping tight controls on how data is entered to avoid inconsistent naming conventions, are all an important part of the catalogue process for geophysical data.
Some of the value added services being offered by SpectrumData include :
- Digital photography of the tape labels to preserve all label information and to allow online visual identification of the media and its label information. (This is like having the tape in your hands to ensure the data is what you want before you select it).
- The ability to load tapes into drives to validate or confirm the tape contents. SpectrumData has access to over 100 tape drives of various types and can read, validate, copy or summarise any of the tapes required to be catalogued. This can be useful where there is no label information on a tape, or where the label does not provide adequate detail.
- Scanning of hard copy documents. SpectrumData can scan large format documents including documents up to 200 metres in length. This allows SpectrumData to scan documents including seismic sections, observer logs, feather angle diagrams, or tape logs.
The final catalogue can be supplied back in a wide variety of formats of can be integrated into applications on site so that a complete catalogue solution can be provided.
For a fully managed service, SpectrumData and Access Information Management can provide an end to end solution for oil and gas companies of all sizes.
